Watch:”Explosive Incident Rocks Western Region Quarry, Leaving 4 Dead and Many Unaccounted For”

A tragic incident involving an ammonium nitrate explosive occurred at a quarry in the Shama district of the Western Region. So far, four individuals have been confirmed dead, and many others are missing and injured. The explosion occurred during the night shift on Saturday at a quarry operated by Chinese individuals in Anto-Aboso, Shama District.

As reported by graphiconline.com, the explosion took place at midnight, resulting in severe burns to numerous night shift workers, both Ghanaian and Chinese nationals, with some being unrecognizable due to the extent of their injuries.

The explosives were stored in an unstructured storage facility without the necessary permits, leading to the detonation that claimed the lives of the workers. The explosion left bloodstains visible at various locations within the vicinity.

Authorities, including the police and Ghana Fire Service, have arrived at the scene to manage the situation. While the exact death toll is yet to be determined, several individuals remain missing following this tragic incident.
