Apostle Lilian Kumah, the widow of John Ampontuah Kumah, who served as the Member of Parliament for the Ejisu constituency, has filed a complaint with the police against Captain Smart, the host of Onua TV’s morning show. This action was taken less than a day after her husband’s death was confirmed. He passed away en route from Kumasi to Accra, from where he was supposed to travel to Germany for medical treatment due to an undisclosed ailment.
Following the MP’s death, a clip from a recent episode of Captain Smart’s program began circulating on social media. In the video, the journalist claimed that the late MP, along with some prominent members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), had been victims of a poisoning attack. Specifically, he mentioned that both the MP and the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Wontumi, had suffered from food poisoning a few weeks prior.
Apostle Lilian Kumah, according to a report from Asaaseradio.com, disputes Captain Smart’s allegations, arguing that they are baseless and harm the reputation of her late husband and their family. She has urged the police to investigate Captain Smart’s claims and to verify the accuracy of his statements regarding her husband’s death. John Ampontuah Kumah died on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
