The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, has praised the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for positively transforming the image and public perception of the police service. Otumfuo acknowledged the IGP’s effective measures, noting that they have significantly improved the public’s trust in the police compared to the past.
Commending Dr. Dampare and his team, Otumfuo expressed gratitude, stating, “I want to commend you for the good work you’re doing with your team. Since you came to the scene, now we feel the Police in our lives, our homes, and everywhere, and we are grateful.”
During discussions about security in the Ashanti region during the Christmas festivities, the Ashanti Monarch commended the visible presence of police officers on motorbikes patrolling the region, particularly Kumasi. He highlighted the positive impact of these measures, noting a reduction in robberies and road accidents during the holiday season.
“I was here when they came to show me videos of the number of officers patrolling the city on motorbikes, and it was beautiful. Because of your work, we didn’t see robberies and the number of accidents we used to witness on our roads during Christmas. Please continue the work because we are praying for you,” Otumfuo remarked.
Additionally, Otumfuo advised the IGP to maintain his authentic personality despite the challenges of the office. In response, Dr. Akuffo Dampare, currently on a working tour in the Ashanti region, expressed gratitude to Otumfuo and assured him that the police would continue working tirelessly to ensure the safety of the citizenry.
